The Route
The path to the path
You might have noticed that a lot of my routes when I’m camping start from the campsite. If I’m pitching up on plot I’d will do I can to find one relatively close to the mountain paths. It does all mean that I often get a flat section to warm up the legs before taking on the ascents.

Fog on the mountains
As I got further up the path up towards Corn Du, the first Nuttall of the day, it was clear that the views wouldn’t be much from the summit. It might be the windiest hike that I’ve done to date. With constant rain and little visibility not many other had gone up the mountinas today, so once I had passed the summit of Pen y Fan I was looking for a exit strategy.

I came down from the summit and spotted the bridle path on the map so I knew I would be able to find something with a slightly gentler slope.
There is plenty of ridge paths leading down from each of the summits in the range, but I think they are better taken on when you can see a little more and aren’t being battered by 60mph winds.

A view of the mountain
I might not have gotten any views whilst out on the hike, but relaxing with a beer at the campsite that evening with the fire pit going and a perfect view of Pen y Fan was an awesome way to end the day.
