This was one of those hikes where throughout the first hour, I debated about turning back. It wasn’t raining hard, sometimes that constant spitting can be just as annoying. I was already well aware that it wasn’t going to be a day for amazing view as the fogged hugged everything.
As always the thing that really gave me an energy boost was spotting a trig point. Where I stopped for a brew in the cold windy weather. I do love the fact that no two trig point are identical, whether it is the design of the pillar itself or the plinth that it stands on.

I do find that the fog adds to the atmosphere on a hike. Especially on those up hills where you can only see it going up. Yes my map shows me where it’s going to flatten out, but in those moments, when you can’t see it, that can fell further away.

Due to the fog I didn’t really get to take in any of the amazing views of Cheddar Gorge, but even from the brief glimpses I got I could see it was a beautiful place.

On the last stretch of this hike was feeling it a little, my big toe was still a little messed up from banding it the week before clambering over the boulders of Kinder Scout.

I was however treated to a field of wild ponies, gorgeous creatures just casually grazing and they didn’t bat an eyelid at me trekking through their fields.
