A breezy stroll from Broadway, exploring the Cotswold way

One of the quieter treks that I have been in, there was still plenty of interesting sites. The hills of the Cotswolds gave some great views. I knew it was going to be a good day when I started in the very picturesque village of Broadway.

The small village was just starting its preparations for Christmas. The town reminded me of the images from which Christmas cards are made.

The Route

So much so that I forgot to hit the track button until I got out of the village, oops!

It was a cold day, but at least I had headed to the Cotswolds after a spell of dry weather. I know that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but there is something about the smell of the countryside I quite enjoy.

This trek involved crossing through a lot of farmers fields, I met lots of four legged friends on the way too.

I say friends they may not have all been too pleased to see me. After a pretty quick walk (maybe jog) through a field of black cows I got to the stile to find one guarding the way out. Luckily I have found farmers are pretty polite when they spot me on my solo treks. The ones along the Cotswold Way were all helpful. Helping with direction when I struggled to find the paths or offering alternative escapes from their fields.

Then there was this ram that I think may have been conjuring the power of evil, that was definetly the feeling I got.

Broadway Tower

This Saxon tower stands on the second highest point in the Cotswold, after Cleeve hill. A location that offered amazing views of the surrounding countryside. A spot that was originally used to house a beacon which would have been lit for various celebrations as many were around the nation.

Animals were definitely the buzz word of the day on this hike. Which I realised early on when I saw wild deer roaming in fields surrounding the Tower.

This hike was also the first time I saw a string of horse riders. I will admit it was a little bit intimidating walking passed thirty of them sharing the same path as me. Things like are really not phasing me as much now though as they would have done just a few years ago.
